cherry berry smoothie bowl :: my bowl of “ice-cream” every night

While I would love to get cozy on the couch with a bowl of ice cream and my favorite Netflix show each night, I don’t have the metabolism to support such a habit. I came upon a Cherry Smoothie bowl recipe in my Tone It Up app and was enjoying it for breakfast. However, it felt more like a treat. I decided to have it one night for dessert and well, that’s been my go-to snack each night. It’s healthy and really knocks out the munchies.

I feel silly even adding my picture after this gorgeous shot. I’m coming at you with a real life picture from my kitchen. You can find me making this smoothie bowl every single night. Cherry Berry Smoothie Bowl

Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup vanilla almond milk

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1 cup frozen cherries

1 frozen banana or strawberry banana blend

1 Tablespoon almond butter

optional toppings:

sliced almonds

berries

chia seeds

coconut

DIRECTIONS:

1. Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and thick enough to eat with a spoon

2. Optional: Top with coconut shavings, fresh fruit, chia seeds, sliced almonds, or whatever you like!

Feel free to add more fruit if it’s too soupy or just use a straw. You can measure, but once you get this recipe down you won’t need to. I haven’t tried this yet, but you can put your almond butter in a squeeze bottle and take your smoothie bowls to another level with a squeeze of almond butter on the top. Also, the Honey Almond Butter at Walmart is fantastic!

I hope you try this recipe and enjoy it as much as I do. I feel so pleasantly full and satisfied after I eat it that I’m not drawn back to the kitchen for more snacks. Evenings are the most challenging time for me when it comes to my nutrition.

You may want to check out Sweet Magnolias on Netflix (TV 14) too. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I was hooked by the 2nd or 3rd episode. I just needed to get to know the characters. There’s quite a bit of southern drama, but I found it enjoyable since I was out of shows to watch. I did not see the ending coming and I can’t wait for the next season.

Treat yourself to a smoothie bowl and a few episodes of a favorite show. It’s exactly what I need after a busy day of momming.
