St, Patrick's Day

2018 St. Patrick’s Day

Every year I want to try to make corned beef for St. Patrick’s Day, but I can’t help but think about what a tough cut of meat brisket can be. Tough to cook, tough to chew, you get the idea. I wimp out and don’t make it. In the last few months I have learned I can cook meat when I have the right tools to overcome my fails. You may recall my post about how useful a meat thermometer has been. I also figured out how to incorporate a meat injector. My next meat mastering tool is The Ultimate Meat Tenderizer from Cave Tools.

Does anyone have an easy Corned Beef recipe to share with me? I think 2019 is the year we try it on St. Patrick’s Day. I’ve pinned this recipe from Taste of Home, but I’m open to your recipe recommendations! My last name is  Logan so we have to give an Irish holiday a proper celebration.

I want to share a very helpful post I read (5 techniques for tenderizing beef) from recipes.com. The very first tip has to do with the tool I am featuring today in this post: “Physically break tough muscle fibers. This is called mechanical tenderizing and there are a few ways to do it. Use a meat tenderizer or small mallet to break tough muscle fibers, by literally pounding the beef (you can wrap the cut in pieces of plastic wrap to keep this from getting messy).”

If you have the right tools in your kitchen, you can be a much better cook. I appreciate how Cave Tools are high in quality, but not too expensive. I would rather not waste a piece of meat due to a cooking fail. Cave Tools come with a FREE recipe book you can download as well. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

hang your kitchen toolsThe Meat Tenderizer Mallet is perfect for all sorts of meats. It’s really a must-have for perfectly flattened and rolled chicken cordon bleu. The stainless steal design of this mallet makes it dishwasher safe and you can be more assured that it’s properly sanitized after touching raw meat. It has a nice silicone grip and it’s perfectly weighted so it does all the work and your arm doesn’t get tired. I appreciated the hook so I could hang it, but it also fits nicely in a drawer.

My mom taught me another trick that comes in handy if you have a meat tenderizer. Do you need to crunch some graham crackers for a crust? Put them in a sealed bag and pound them a little. You an also break up nuts and candies for other recipes.

Cave Tools takes their customer’s satisfaction very seriously. If at any point you are unhappy with their meat tenderizer you can return it for a full money back refund. I like standing behind a company that takes care of their customers so well. I forgot to mention the best part. This meat tenderizer is only $12.99 on their website and Amazon!
