burritos prepped in under 20 minutes :: recipe + giveaway

disclaimer giveaway
I don’t know about you, but creating in the kitchen isn’t a favorite past time of mine. I enjoy making a great, healthy meal for my family, but ones that take a ton of time with ingredients that aren’t familiar to my family is tough work! so, what I’ve found is that I have a few easy recipes that rotate through our meal schedule. And today I wanted to share a family favorite with you!

Mexican is our go-to. All four girls and my hubby and I enjoy it. So, I’m always looking to mix things up in the Mexican food department. We have nachos, tacos, Mexican bakes and burritos! I love burritos and the sauce that goes on top. The perfect combination! I serve our burritos up with tortilla chips and corn bread, and voila! Easy meal! So, let’s do this….

20 minute burrito recipe20 MINUTE BURRITOS! Burrito Ingredients :: Azteca No Artificial Preservative flour tortillas – Burritos size 1 lb hamburger beans cheese lettuce tomatoes 1 package of taco seasoning Sauce Ingredients :: jar of mild taco sauce  1 cup of ketchup 1 1/2 cups water DSC_0414 Use whatever ingredients or store bought items you choose to make this recipe your own 🙂 However, I have used this recipe for 10+ years. I choose to use the Azteca No Artificial Preservative flour tortillas in the Burrito size. In addition to having no artificial preservatives, these tortillas also contain no high fructose corn syrup, and have no artificial colors or flavors. I am not saying we are all real food and eat all organic all the time. It’s just not realistic for our busy lifestyle. BUT, I do make simple choices like this to help us stay healthier and eat healthier. Choosing the tortillas is an easy choice. They taste great and are easy to find in the refrigerated aisle at my local Walmart and Family Fare. DSC_0418 Mix the sauce ingredients and set aside. DSC_0420 Cook the meat with the seasonings and then set aside. In a sauce pan with oil, toss in the tortillas to get them a little crispier than usual. You can easily skip this step if you choose. If you don’t skip it, once the tortillas are looking how you want them to, take them out and start stacking on a plate. Between the cooked tortillas, add paper towel to get rid of excess oil. Once they are done, take the tortilla and fill with the burrito ingredients you want. Wrap them up and place them in a dish that can go in the oven. DSC_0423 Once all the tortillas are filled, pour the sauce over top. Then put cheese on top. I typically use an entire bag throughout the whole process. Love me some cheese!! DSC_0426 Bake for 20 minutes at 375 degrees. When they are complete, let them cool a bit before serving. Then top with whatever you desire!DSC_0431DSC_0436DSC_0432

What other options do you have when it comes to Mexican meals? I’m always on the look out – let me know!
