American Revolutionary War Adventures :: book review + giveaway

disclaimer giveawayWe aren’t book worms per say, but we do read to our kids before bed and they enjoy reading books when we stumble on good ones.  My 8 year old son helped me out with this post. He read 2 books in the American Revolutionary War Adventures series by Robert J. Skead and Robert A. Skead. They are a father and son writing team, writing about their ancestor, Lamberton Clark.

Patriots, Redcoats, & Spies begins with a bang. 14 year old twin boys must deliver a secret message to General George Washington for their father who was shot by the Redcoats! It’s intense, but not too scary. It makes you want to read just one more chapter before putting it down. The book includes many historical facts about the Revolutionary War as well.

I asked my son to write up a blog post about the book. I think it felt a little too much like a book report or homework. This is all I got out of him….

I know he greatly enjoyed the series because as soon as he finished Patriots, Redcoats, & Spies, he picked up Submarines, Secrets, & A Daring Rescue. He finished the 2nd book in a matter of days. That’s a sign of a very captivating novel. These juvenile fiction books are published by Zonderkidz.com and should be available in your local Christian bookstore, Barnes and Noble, and at Christianbook.com (only $3.99 for the e-book).
