aiken horsepower for the win

As you know we have two children playing travel ball and we were looking for a travel softball team for my middle child.  We finally found the perfect fit that appreciates my daughter’s skills.  Some teams were over looking her because she could easily play for a 14u team instead of a 12u, but I would prefer she had time to shine.  We found a team that wants her to play for both 12u and 14u–they are even willing to work with her on pitching.

All children need to have an outlet to let off steam.  This is what my daughter does BEST!  She has been playing softball since she was five and has loved every minute of the game.  No she is preparing to play high school ball next spring.  In our area 7th and 8th graders get to tryout for the high school team and are able to play JV or Varsity depending on their skill level.  We are hoping with travel ball she will be able to play at the next level!

This was the video I took during tryouts to send her dad.  Listen closely and you will here the coaches say, “are you sure she’s only 12”?  I couldn’t help but laugh at that comment.  When I watch her play it is like seeing myself play.  She reminds me so much of myself.

All children have their strengths and weaknesses, but I like to encourage them by focusing on their strengths.  Softball is definitely one of my daughter’s strengths.  I love watching her to do her thing on the field!  She never fails to astonish me with her skills.

We found a team about 45 minutes from our house, but it really has been the best fit for my daughter.  The coach is only twenty years old and has all sorts of fun ways to learn how to play softball.  This was her idea of teaching the girls how to slide and they LOVED IT!!
