a simple recipe :: southern grits

IMG_6307 As I have told you before, my parents moved to Tennessee about 9 years ago. Lucky for me, they come to visit every few months and there is always great celebrating when they do. Also lucky for me, my mama has picked up a few Southern traits since she has moved down South. One that I am a fan of is her newfound love of Southern dishes. Beef brisket, redneck tacos, and a simple but awesome favorite, grits. I. LOVE. GRITS.

So today, for breakfast we did up some grits, Judi-style. Yum yum.

Ingredients ::

1 cup grits
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. butter
4 1/2 cups water

Cooking Directions ::

Mix ingredients in large sauce pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

So easy, so southern and SO GOOD!! Breakfast is served.

    That’s it!! I’ve been hunting around for a new breakfast, and this is perfect! Stick to your ribs, but not oatmeal – sick of it!!! I haven’t had grits in a while, I forgot about them and how delish they are!!!

    I’m a grit lover and a G.R.I.T.- Girl Raised In The South! Grits are SO versatile and can be served at any meal. Shrimp and grits is one of my favorite dinners ( or suppers, as we say in the south) , try it, you’ll love it!
