a {simple} recipe :: indoor s’mores

The cooler weather has me thinking about bonfires and s’mores! Anyone else? But we don’t always have time (or the perfect weather) to make a fire and roast s’mores. So we tried out these super easy indoor s’mores and they were a huge hit. The grocery list is short, the mess is minimal and the taste is delicious.

First, gather your ingredients. You’ll need: ice cream cones (I suggest using waffle cones, but you could probably sub sugar cones or even cake cones if that’s what you have), marshmallows and chocolate (chocolate chips, Hershey pieces or a mixture of the two). These ingredients alone are fabulous. However, a few of us amped things up with some Rolos and I think peanut butter cups or chips would be amazing. Just look through your Halloween candy next week and go crazy!

Next, give each person a cone and let them fill it with the ingredients they want. My daughter is a chocoholic so hers was pretty filled with chocolate (as you can tell by her teeth in the picture below) while my son prefers just a little chocolate with his marshmallows. It was super easy to customize.  I’ve found you can stuff them fairly full. A bit of marshmallow will stick to the foil, but for the most part, they stay together pretty well!  Can you tell my little one was excited to make his own s’more?!?

Next, wrap each cone with foil. I wrote an initial on each cone so we would know which cone goes with which kid. Keeping it simple for later. Place the cones on a cookie sheet and bake for around 10 minutes at 350. I think these would also be really easy to do on the grill.

Last, take them out, unwrap and enjoy!   These were a huge hit with my kids and require pretty much zero prep time. Would be a huge hit for those impromptu play dates or just a last-minute treat after dinner.
