a little secret to getting kids to put their laundry in the hamper

All too often, I’ll walk into one of my child’s rooms only to find dirty laundry on the floor. I’m always baffled that the few steps to their hamper seem to be more of a marathon when it comes to taking care of their laundry! So I’ve decided to make it fun.

My 9-year-old son is a sports fanatic.  Basketball hoop out front, soccer goals in the back and hockey and football pennants lining the walls of his room.  So when I found the Dirty Dunk by The Dunk Collection, I knew he would love it. Dirty Dunk is a laundry hamper/basketball hoop in one.   I set it up in about 10 seconds one night (you literally just pop it together and it’s ready to go).  No tools, no measuring, no attaching a net.  That’s all done for you.  The pleasant surprise of no set-up might have been my favorite part of all!  I just put it right on my son’s door and it was ready to go.

The Dirty Dunk has a long net bag with a drawstring at the bottom to hold laundry.  I love that I can either take the bag right off the hoop or loosen the drawstring to empty it into my laundry basket.  It makes it super easy to just use the net as a laundry bag–perfect for college kids or kids who (unlike mine) do their own laundry.  I noticed right away the high quality materials used in the Dirty Dunk.  The metal rim seems to stay together well (my kids tested out a lot of dunks) and the backboard is super sturdy–not a cheap piece of cardboard like I’ve seen in the past.  I love that the door hangers are padded as well–so it keeps the door protected.

If you’re not using your Dirty Dunk for laundry, just open up the bottom of the net and you can use it like a basketball net.  My kids spent the time before church this morning playing a game of basketball in my son’s room.  I love that they can do something active inside! The Dunk Collection also makes the Scrub-a-Dunk (a basketball hoop for the tub) and the Document Dunk (a wastebasket basketball hoop).  I could definitely see these making a home over here, too!

This is a great idea for some reason my children find it extremely hard to get their clothes where they are supposed to be.

Now that is definitely a way to get my grandsons to put their dirty laundry in the hamper AND make a game out of it as well… I will definitely have to show this to my son!
