reflect, remember & repurpose with project repat :: review

Between putting away the Christmas decorations and finding places for the new Christmas presents, I often find myself unintentionally doing a New Year purge on our house.

And somewhere amongst the bags of outgrown toys and books and clothes, I find myself holding on to a few things that I just don’t want to toss away or donate. Actually, shirts I don’t want to get rid of. That t-shirt she made at summer camp. The adorable shirts we bought on vacation three years ago. College t-shirts. Sports shirts. I literally have an entire box of shirts that I hold on to because they hold so many great memories.

But what fun is it to keep memories stuffed in a box?

Thanks to Project Repat we’re repurposing those old memory filled shirts!

Project Repat simply takes your old shirts and creates an awesome T-Shirt Quilt! And it is so incredibly easy to do! When you visit projectrepat.com, you simply select the size quilt you want and the color of the fleece backing you want on your quilt. They’ll tell you exactly how many {and what size} shirt panels you will need to send and will even tell you how to prepare the shirts for shipping!

Then send your shirts to the creative geniuses at Project Repat where the magic happens. A few weeks later you’ll receive a lovely package that includes your new T-Shirt Quilt! YAY!

Ok, so, yes, you could totally probably maybe make a t-shirt quilt all by yourself. I kept telling myself that’s what I was going to do. But months turn into years and the box of shirts gets fuller and the blanket never happens. Don’t beat yourself up. It happens to the best of us.

But here is why you should feel really good about handing that task over to Project Repat – First, the quality is amazing and the turnaround time is great! Second, the PolarTec fleece backing of your Project Repat quilt is made from recycled plastic bottles! Yay for you…you’re quilt just helped keep a few dozen water bottles out of landfills!

Last, Project Repat quilts are USA made! Each quilt is carefully crafted by designers, cutters, and sewers earning a fair and living wage right here in the United States. That’s pretty awesome!

My kids absolutely love reminiscing about t-shirts they remember on our Project Repat quilt and ask to hear the stories behind the other shirts on the quilt that they don’t recognize. It is such a fun way to relive those memories over and over again!

Of course now we’ve started a whole new box of “shirts to save” because I can’t wait to make each of the kids their very own Project Repat quilts at different stages of their lives!

This is quite interesting, I have to be honest I would not tell myself I could make a quilt on my on. I don’t own a sewing machine even if I did I was never very good at it. I will have to keep this in mind this is a great idea.
