Do you remember when I reviewed I’m So Glad, the great CD from Alex & the Kaleidoscope Band? Ok, well to refresh your memory, read it here.

Alex & the Kaleidoscope Band is a really talented family band whose eclectic music is full of some really great rhythms, with lyrics that are educational, thoughtful and enriching. Their music is full of positive messages to help little kiddos learn about dealing with emotions and life situations, and understanding the world around them and their place therein. I really believe in the learning power of music and the influence it has on our spirit, so it I am grateful to have music with positive messages like this to share with my daughter.

The music ranges from slow and sweet to fast with dancing beats. Alex’s voice is rich and deep, with an intrinsic friendly tone that blends well with his band mates and the children who sing harmonies with him. His voice is just so calming and approachable, but also very fun and energetic!

Alex & the Kaleidoscope BandMy favorite song on the album Kaleidoscope Songs Number One is “Mother” – it’s just unbelievably lovely and really enforces the beautiful relationship between a child and mama. It actually brings tears to my eyes. I’m not joking. It’s so sweet. My second favorite is “My Dad!” which is fun and upbeat and captures the fun relationship kids have with their daddies! On Kaleidoscope Songs Number Two, I love the “Laugh A Lot Song” – it is SUPER fun and has a circus-y sound that gets faster with each repetition of the chorus. Kids will LOVE this! Being a tree hugging flower child, I especially love Animals We Dream, which instills in listeners a sense of wonder and respect for animals and nature. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree with my kid, so she’s just as bohemian as I am, so she’s all about animals and dirt and trees – which suits me just fine. We both dig this album!
