4 fun summer food ideas that kids will love – i promise!

When summer strikes, a little bit of fear overcomes me as I know that I am now responsible for these four kids, 24/7, and all their feeding requirements. At school, we prep at home…in the morning or the night before…and they are on their way. However, during summer it’s SO different. I absolutely LOVE having my girls home with me, but meal time can be a bit intimidating with all their different opinions. Also, to note, I’m not one of those moms who will typically make four different things for my four different kids. So, that’s another level of contention at meal time!

That being said, I am always looking for “something” that will make all my kids happy. Something that leaves them saying, YUM! Starting the quest earlier this year, I found a fantastic solution that included a little appliance I’ve read about and heard about, but I never experienced. Until now…Vitamix Mixed Berry Smoothie 4

Did you know that Vitamix has a blender that can do all.the.things.? I found that the E310 Explorian Series Blender from Vitamix is a step up from all the others we have used, and we’ve used and tested quite a few. To be honest, this one has bumped another top ranking one to the back of our cupboard!

Here is a tried and true smoothie recipe our kids (and us) enjoy every time. It’s healthy AND delicious! Just what you need for those warm summer mornings!Vitamix Mixed Berry Smoothie 3

Cinnamon Mixed Berry Smoothie
2 cups frozen mixed berries (we get a huge bag from Costco, but you can get them at any supermarket)
1 cup spinach
2 tbs chia seeds
1 tbs flax seeds
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbs lemon juice
2 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 serving of unsweetened protein powder
1 tsp vanilla

A few more fun things about the Vitamix E310 Explorian Series Blender…because, details.

Did you know that the friction from the Vitamix blenders’ blades can give you steaming-hot soup in under 10 minutes, right in the container. Sweet, right?

The container is pretty big which makes it great for making full size food options. From soups, smoothies, deserts and more, this has your back. There are many features offered that aren’t offered on regular blenders. You may not use these features all the time, but when you need them, they will be there for you. In addition, you can make body butters and bath products, or so I heard. Who’d have thought? I have added that to my summer to do list!

One other thing to note is the self-cleaning feature. Can I get a hallelujah for that? Yes! Add warm water and a drop of dish soap, turn it on for 30-second and boom. Done! Also, there is a warranty. Again, they have you covered. What’s not to love!

In my research, what I found was unexpected! I am thrilled with my new found food options. What would YOU like to make with a Vitamix? OR, what recipe above have you saved for using as well this summer?

My kiddos are all about ice pops and this is such a great, healthy twist! Like most kids, we have lots of ice pops and smoothies throughout the hot summer months and these are great ways to make them better and together!

These also sound yummy and refreshing for adults too, especially this weekend… it’s 109 sickening hot and humid degrees here in Michigan. WAH! I don’t want ANY warm food at all. These look perfect! Ahhhh!
