3 tips for staying hydrated this fall

As soon as the weather starts to get cooler, I often find myself trading in my trusty water bottle for a hot cup of coffee, cocoa, or cider (or all three!). At the end of the day I’m wondering why I feel so dehydrated…duh! I’ve hardly drank any water!

Do you find yourself in the same situation? Staying hydrated throughout the Summer seems like something we all remember to do.  Forgetting to stay hydrated throughout the Fall and Winter months seems like the same 🙁

Did you know :: As our bodies get colder, our blood vessels constrict in an effort to conserve heat and draw the blood to our core. Because of this, your body is fooled into thinking it’s properly hydrated. You don’t necessarily feel thirsty. Meanwhile you may begin to feel tired, get a headache, or start to notice dry skin…all signs of mild dehydration!

Here are three tips on how I try to remember to stay hydrated during the Fall and into the Winter.

Staying hydrated this fall ::

1. Find & use a reusable water bottle you love!

Using a reusable water bottle that I love, for some reason, just makes me more inclined to reach for it. My ZAZ Glass water bottle is the perfect size for me to hold on to, especially with the included silicon sleeve. And, despite being glass, the bottle itself is not heavy but still has enough weight to it to feel solid and sturdy. It doesn’t have that “fragile glass” feeling so grabbing it for my everyday use seems perfect.

I also love how the top lip has a slightly curved feel to it. It’s those kind of details that keep me reaching for it every day.

2. Adding flavor

I get very bored with water, plain and simple.

So, throughout the Summer, I’m usually adding a few slices of fresh fruit to my water bottle. That’s not necessarily so easy in the Fall and Winter in Michigan. Instead, I add a drop or two of my favorite essential oils.

Again, this is where my ZAZ Glass bottle is perfect!

The borosilicate glass does not interact with your essential oil, fruit or even just the water itself. Did you know that undiluted essential oils may erode the plastic material of bottles? I don’t want to be drinking plasticy-chemicals, so I find it just safer to stick with glass.

Now, if you happen to live in an area where you can get your hands on fresh fruit all year long…lucky you! The ZAZ Glass bottle has a wide enough top that you can easily add sliced fruit or ice cubes to your water.

Also, the ZAZ Glass bottles are dishwasher safe, which makes for easy clean-up whether I’m adding oils or fresh fruit.

3. Keep it cool!

Sounds a little backwards since I started off by telling you that I tend to reach for hot drinks during this cooler weather, but I love cold water. Like refrigerator-cold water. So, for me, it really helps to keep a few bottles of water filled and sitting in the refrigerator. The easier it is for me to reach in and grab a bottle of water as I head out the door, the better!

I actually find this is true for our whole family! So, instead of stocking the fridge with bottle of pop or juice, we work really hard at remembering to stock it with reusable bottles of water.

Don’t go through the fall and winter months feeling sluggish and tired or with dry, itchy skin! Grab your ZAZ Glass bottle, fill it up with some delicious cold water, and keep yourself hydrated!!

I find I don’t drink water unless it’s cool.It tastes best after it’s been in the freezer for about 2-3 hours. It gets icy/slushie.
