travel tip today :: a hidden gem at the most magical place on earth #DisneyKids #DisneySMMoms

My first trip to Walt Disney World this year was when my youngest was about 2 months old. I was quite hesitant to leave, not only due to her age, but because I was breast feeding and my little one was staying home with Daddy. I had pumped a ton in advance so that I knew she wouldn’t have to sway from what she was used to, however, I was so concerned that while I was away, and not able to pump consistently, that my milk supply would decrease. So began my research…disney baby care center 1

When I was researching WHAT to do about this, I found a hidden gem among ALL the hidden gems to be found at the most magical place on earth. Baby Care Centers. Three fantastic little words that parents rejoice to once they know exactly what you can do at them! For me, it was a refuge away from the heat to sit in air conditioning and take a break…and pump. I planned on pumping and dumping (GASP!!), but you are able to get ice and carry your milk along. In addition, I brought my pump along in my Vera Bradley backpack so I’d always have it close by, but you can RENT a pump too from what I was told by a worker there! WHOA! They seriously have thought of it all at these places. Check out all there is to offer…

      • potties for the little squirts
      • small, child size tables for rest time, snack time or meal time
      • televisions playing, but of course, Disney anything…
      • changing tables galore
      • high chairs
      • nursing room where only moms are allowed (this is where I pumped as well)

        • a place to purchase things such as food for your baby/child, diapers and other supplies – from what i saw, this was a place where they can only accept cash.
        • a microwave and/or bottle warmer
        • cold water, a sink to wash your hands, a nice bathroom

These can be found at Walt Disney World AND Disneyland.  Woot!! There are small differences. For example, at the Baby Care Center at Epcot in Florida, It is an open room, yet in California, I had my own little area, closed off behind a curtain. Once place had rocking chairs, others has folding chairs. Either way, when you are at the point where you have to either feed your sweet babe or pump, we really don’t care…do we ladies? 🙂

You leave your stroller outside so the area doesn’t get congested. I recommend grabbing your valuables and bring them with you inside. Just in case. I didn’t have ANY problems with this however.

Most importantly, friendly staff that’s willing to accommodate your needs! You guys, for the trips that I’ve taken this year to Walt Disney World and Disneyland, this is probably one of the coolest features they have! While they aren’t located all over the park, if you plan appropriately, you will be good to go. If you don’t plan, just ask the friendly staff. They will hook you up with the location of the Baby Care Centers!

They also have one of these in Europa Park in Germany plus they have an additional area on the other side of the park for just feeding.
