What did the summer of 2015 look like?

When my sweet little boy is grown and gone, I will forever remember the summer of 2015 from this one single picture. If “a picture is worth a thousand words” is true, this photo perfectly embodies that phrase for me. The obvious smear of dirt and ashes across my sweet little boy’s flawless complexion makes me laugh as I remember the time it took for him to get this dirty… all of 10 seconds! The look on his face says, “I’m having fun mommy, but I’ll humor you and let you snap a picture anyways.” He then raced away on his tricycle, onto the next adventure. Those bright blue eyes hold so much promise and innocence. The smudge of food around his mouth reminds me that he is a growing boy, with a growing appetite, and his bright blonde hair tells me that we had an amazing summer spent outside enjoying the warm sun!

I cannot help but be a little nostalgic as this summer comes to a close. As I sit and type this, the crisp fall air is creeping up on us. As the leaves turn from green to red, brown and yellow, I am reminded that there is change. I can choose to grieve the passing of this summer or I can choose to embrace the fun days ahead of me and allow myself to remember all the amazing things from this summer… every memory perfectly embodied in this photo!
