One of my favorite movies growing up was The Sound of Music. If you asked me to, I could probably sing you every word to every song! I’m sitting here humming “these are a few of my favorite things” as I type.
When I found out there was going to be a new version of The Sound of Music, I thought “No one can follow in the steps of Julie Andrews.” Then I heard who was casted for the role of Maria… Carrie Underwood! Ok, so there IS someone qualified to play the role of Maria. Carrie has the talent and the voice to bring Maria to life in this new version of The Sound of Music.
December 5, 2013 (this Thursday), The Sound of Music will be broadcasted LIVE on NBC at 8:00pm EST (7:00 pm CST). I hope you join me in watching the remaking of one of my favorite childhood movies. I can not WAIT to see what this amazing cast is going to do!!
What better way to spend time with family this holiday season than to watch the remaking of this classic Broadway musical?!?
From executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (“Smash,” “Hairspray,” “Chicago”) comes an instant holiday classic: “The Sound of Music,” based on the original Broadway musical. Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer star as Maria and Captain von Trapp in this beloved story of the young novice who falls in love with Captain von Trapp and his seven children, set against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Austria. The jewel in the Rodgers and Hammerstein crown, “The Sound of Music” contains some of the most famous songs ever written for the stage, including “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Climb Every Mountain” and “Edelweiss.”
This new version of “The Sound of Music” will be a faithful adaptation of the original stage musical, to retell the story for a whole new generation. And more than that, it will be broadcast LIVE, adding a whole new level of immediacy and excitement. Get ready to reintroduce your family to the most joyful, most emotional and most musical family adventure of them all.

It was good. It’s like comparing apples to oranges to the original. I’ve pretty much got a crush on Carrie Underwood too…I want to be her. She’s just so cute and real.
It was good… I went into watching it without expecting it to be like the original movie, especially because this was not supposed to be like a movie but more like the Broadway play 🙂 I really enjoyed it!
favorite movie of all time!:) thanks ! ! !
It is one of my all time favorites as well!! Hope you enjoyed it 🙂
This is SO cool! I love Carrie Underwood. I am not a huge fan of musicals but I will be watching this just because she’ll be singing. =)
Carrie Underwood does have an AMAZING voice!! I can’t imagine the amount of time and effort that went into this to perform LIVE!
I have never seen the sound of “mucus” as I refer to it. My mom always bugged me to watch it,,but i said I was to sick to watch tv. I am taping it on my DVR this time. I watched the casting docu they had on last week and I am interested in seeing the children preform.
Maybe after I will watch the original
The Sound of Music is definitely a classic (and one of my favorites!). While this LIVE version was significantly different from the movie, I hope you enjoyed it and are inspired to watch the movie now 🙂
