If you’re not familiar with The Penguins of Madagascar than you’ve obviously never seen any of the Madagascar movies or their animated series on Nickelodeon. Sad for you, because these crazy Penguins are quite hilarious.
To most people, Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private are just four cute penguins living in the Central Park Zoo. And that’s exactly what they want people to think. Why? Because these placid-looking penguins are actually an elite strike force with unmatched commando skills and a secret headquarters. Their mission? To maintain order in the zoo. Their nemesis? Their obnoxious new neighbor, King Julien. This party animal and self proclaimed “King of the Lemurs” is new to the zoo…and he’s looking to shake things up.
Operation: Get Ducky :: Those wacky Penguins are back for eight exciting egg-ventures featuring their newest pal, Ducky and a few bunny friends. After Marlene discovers a lost egg, the Penguins volunteer to egg-sit until they can find its mother. When the egg hatches the Penguins put Ducky into Penguin training, but King Julien is jealous and wants to raise the duckling to be his second in command.
If you’re in serious need of some Penguin-induced laughter make sure to check out Operation: Blowhole as well. This DVD released just last month and features Neil Patric Harris as Dr. Blowhole. This is a three-part saga, where Skipper and the Penguins face off against their sinister nemesis and must put a stop to his diabolical plans for revenge… and more revenge. With six original musical numbers, it’s a super-spy spoof of Penguins proportions!
I will admit that the adults in our house were especially amused by being able to watch Neil Patrick Harris with the hilarious Penguins of Madagascar in Operation: Blowhole, but we couldn’t help but giggle along with the kids while watching Operation: Ducky as well. my SIMPLE star rating :: 4 out of 5
