It’s that time of year when the garden is starting to give up its bounty and I find myself purchasing whatever fruit is in season to make homemade jam. Last year was my first attempt in about 15 years with canning, so I was a bit nervous to start… I shouldn’t have been as I re-discovered just how easy hot water canning can be.P1100245

So far this year I’ve made 3 batches of jam and am excited to make more, but I was disappointed to find out that the sealing lid disks can’t be reused and that I’d have to buy more. My husband came across some reusable canning lids and I thought they’d be worth trying out, but I was a little nervous how well they’d work and how easy to use they would be.

P1100249I’ve been TATTLER Reusable Canning Lids converted & I’ll be switching all my canning lids over to TATTLER Reusable Canning Lids as the disks need replacement.  Not only are these lids just as easy to use as the metal disks, they’re indefinitely reusable! As in they should last a lifetime, and if you were to wear your lid out TATTLER will replace it for free! (Don’t you just LOVE guarantees like that?!?)

    Definitely the regular mouth lids! Typically I make lots of different jams & jellies during the summer fruit season to give as Holiday gifts. Traditionally folks give me back the jars to refill the next year. These would be AWESOME!

    Wow must have some major canners out there. The bulk packages are HUGE!

    I’m a widemouth girl myself, so a set of those look perfect for me. The opener looks just like a type of bottle opener. Never thought to use one of those to open canned jars. Great idea.

    Love that these are reusable (less garbage) and bpa-free (less chemicals). Hurray!
