sugar bowl bakery :: simple ingredients for homemade taste

Sugar-Bowl-Bakery-LogoI have to admit, I’m not really one for a store bought treat.  Every Sunday our church has tables of treats to snack on between our services.  I skip the cookies and grab some cheese and crackers.  Not because I don’t have a sweet tooth–I have a huge one!  But because I’m kind of a cookie snob.  I can taste the difference between cookies made with real ingredients and those without–and most store bought cookies are filled with junk.

I was so surprised when I took a bit of one of Sugar Bowl Bakery‘s Madeleines!  The first thing I tasted right away was the real butter!  I expected them to be crunchier, but they are a fabulous, cakey texture that lends itself to eating alongside a cup of tea (which is what I did while my big kids were at school and my youngest was napping). They are also a great substitute for shortcake!  I decided to serve them up with fruit for a super special after-school snack.  They made an amazing fruit parfait and my kids were (not surprisingly) begging for seconds.  One thing I love about the Madeleines is that they aren’t too sweet.  They are just the right amount of sweetness for a little something special.

007Since one of my main food groups is chocolate, I knew that Sugar Bowl’s brownie bites would hit the spot for a chocolate craving (but give me a little portion control–if I can stop at just one).  I love that the brownie bites are organic and non-GMO.  If I’m going to have some chocolate, at least make it as healthy as it can be, right?  I also love that each brownie bite is individually wrapped.  No one wants a stale brownie!  The wrappers keep them fresh for a long time!  I took some to a neighborhood lunch and took more to a White Elephant gift exchange 2 weeks later and they were all fresh.  While I usually just serve them straight out of the wrapper, I like to heat them up in the microwave a few seconds and add a touch of ice cream or whipped cream for a more decadent dessert (shhh…don’t tell my kids!  This is a sneaky treat for when they are in bed:)

Have you tried the fabulousness of Sugar Bowl Bakery? They are sold nationwide at retailers like World Market and Costco (and others found here)!  And you can check out their website for more recipe ideas using Sugar Bowl Bakery products!
