slip into latin dreamland with putumayo kids :: review

Latin Dreamland by Putumayo KidsWhen my little princesses start to get too crazy I will frequently use calming music and some quiet play time to calm them down.  I’ve learned that my music selections have to be rotated though or they quickly loose focus and go right back to crazy in 5.6 seconds.

Newly added to our calming rotation is Latin Dreamland from Putumayo Kids.  Ten calming lullabies by artists from various Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico and Peru).

Things I loved about this album ::

1) Latin American inspired lullabies. Need I say more?

2) Each song has a different artist, so there’s a great representation of music styles and influences from different countries.

3) Each song has a page in the booklet of information that is included with the CD that gives you a translation of a small portion of the song so you can know what it’s about.  Some songs also have a little history/background info included in the info.

4) Each song page in the information booklet also provides some info about the artist who sings the song.

Okay, there was obviously a lot I liked about this album, but don’t just take my word for it.  Visit the Latin Dreamland page on the Putumayo Kids website to take a listen yourself and find your favorite lullaby. (P.S. My favorite was song#10 and Marta Gomez’s lullaby rendition of “Cielito Lindo“)
