Ponytail Pals Thumbnail LogoMy 2.5 year old  is a free-spirited barefoot bohemian child who plays in the mud and loves her curly hair to be wild and free. Romantic vision of childhood, huh? 🙂

But in reality, her free-spiritedness makes it difficult to tame her hair, so she normally has a head full of tangles by the end of the day. She basically refuses to have her hair put up in any way, except for the handful of times that my mom has been successful at putting it up in a clip while she was distracted (that she promptly pulled out when she noticed), and the 2 times that my cousin has been able to do the same.

This kid even runs at the sight of a brush, which usually prompts me to chase after her, swearing that I’ll shave her head if she doesn’t let me brush it (empty threats ALWAYS work on kids, right??)… when I catch her, I tickle-attack her feet with the brush, and while she’s giggling I’m able to brush through the tangle of curls. Seriously, every day of my life is a battle with this kid and her crazy curly hair (thanks to my genetics – both the hair, and the attitude).

I was really hoping that when she saw the ADORABLE elephant, bunny and lion Ponytail Pals, she’d have an epiphany and decide that it was time to allow her hair to be tamed by wild animals. I mean, this kid is ape for elephants (awkward idiom usage is fun) so I was convinced that this was the product that would change the course of our hair battle, and that I was headed for victory.

Ponytail Pals Bunny Rabbit Lion Elephant Hair Accessory Accessories

Unfortunately, even the cutest little hair accessory I’ve ever seen wouldn’t change this kid’s mind. I tried getting the elephant in her hair, and she pulled it out and ran off with it. He and his cute little mates have become beloved residents of her “treasure box,” along with several craft puffs and a variety of other tiny things. She adores the tiny critters, even though she won’t allow them to frolic in her hair.

Well fine, phooey on her. Who wants a cooperative child with cutely styled hair everyday, anyway… pffft!  *quietly raises hand*

No but really, she will grow to like her hair up in a ponytail eventually, and we’ll just save them for the day that she decides that it’s ok to be bohemian AND have tamed hair… just like her mama. 🙂

UPDATE AS OF 9:00AM Pacific Daylight Time ::

VICTORY!!!!! This kid must have known that my review posted this morning, because not only did she let my mom put the bunny in her hair (albeit for only about 30 minutes or so), she decided that the elephant was a fantastic fashion accessory! Check it out:
