my name is paul :: review + giveaway

disclaimer giveaway
I was not sure what to expect when I popped My Name is Paul into the DVD player. More times than not, when producers try to take a “spin” on Biblical characters, I am usually left a little disappointed. This was not the case with this movie!

My Name is Paul

I was very pleased with this futuristic analogy of Paul, a murderer of Christians who is turned apostle with a very real encounter with God. Along with Paul, there were other beloved Biblical people brought to life, including Stephen, Peter and Lydia. If you have read any number of Bible stories, you will be sure to recognize several of these people!

The creators of this film did a great job with incorporating Biblical principals and helping bring a modern understanding to the persecution Christians underwent during Biblical times. I always feel like these kinds of movies are wonderful at giving me personal introspection at my life. Am I thankful for the religious freedoms that I have? Do I live out my faith day to day? These are just a couple of the questions I asked myself following this movie.

My husband and I enjoyed watching this film together, especially knowing the true story behind it. I would definitely recommend My Name is Paul.

About My Name is Paul:

“My Name is Paul” takes place in an apocalyptic dark future where Paul is hate-filled and intent on finding and destroying Peter, a Christian and the enemy of his leader. In an accident he is blinded and Ananias, who follows “The Way,” prays for him. His sight returns taking him off his hate-filled course and he learns to live and love “The Way.” Now he has to find Peter but his former leader and the government against “The Way” conspires to use him to get to and destroy Peter and the movement.”

I am most excited about My Name Is Paul because in these trying times we are now living in, I occasionally need to see something to remind me how truly blessed I am to be living with all the freedom, especially religious freedom; and how thankful I should be each and every day.

This is pretty neat. They have been flying toy planes since 1926.
