light my fire :: spork little

As my youngest has been growing lately I’ve been searching for ways to help cut down on all the gear I carry around for my girls.  I was trying to decide which utensil to keep in the diaper bag, a fork or a spoon?  Well… why not find a good quality spork and have both?  My search eventually lead me to Light My Fire and their Spork Little.lightmyfiresporkslittlepink

This two sided utensil has a curved ergonomic handle with a spoon on one end and a fork on the other.  You may have seen Light My Fire’s original Sporks before so I think it needs to be said that there are some differences between the Spork original and the Spork Little.

lightmyfiresporkslittlegreenThe Spork Littles are meant to be used by infants and small children so they do NOT have a serrated edges on one of the fork tines like the Spork original.  The Spork Little is also smaller, rounder and thicker to make it easier for small hands to hold.

The Spork Littles are also:   P1100270

  • dishwasher safe
  • Teflon friendly material won’t scratch non-stick cookware
  • BPA Free
  • Extremely durable
  • Heat resistant material won’t melt in hot/boiling water (in case you need to sanitize it)
  • 5.5 inches long
  • lightweight

While I’d originally looked at the Spork Littles for sticking into the diaper bag to use when we were on the go or for packed lunches, we have actually been using our Spork Littles quite a bit here at home. Even though Dani doesn’t hit her mouth every time with her Spork Little, she sure does have fun trying!

My favorite thing about the Spork Little is that the fork tines aren’t so sharp that my 18 mo. old can hurt herself, but they are sharp enough that she can stab soft foods like noodles and steamed vegetables.  Especially exciting since most forks made for smaller children have safety tips and are so rounded that it’s pretty much like trying to stab food with a spoon.
