Brancott Estate Flight Song Master logo_NEW Can we be honest here? OK, good. I LOVE WINE. Red, white, dry, sweet, sparkling….they’re all music to my ears. I discovered my love of wine in college at a little bar in East Lansing, Michigan called Beggar’s Banquet. See, every Wednesday night they offer 50% off bottles of wine. And as a college student, 50% off of anything is a beautiful thing. So my girls and I would gather and sample and talk and taste and wine the night away (see what I did there??). We would sit at the same table every week and chat for hours on end about our classes, our boyfriends, our futures. Now I’m not saying that wine makes a friendship stand the test of time but some of those girls are my closest friends to this day (love you, ladies!). The point of this little story is to say that I have tasted many different types and brands of wine over the years. There are some that I buy over and over again and some that I have bought only once. Today I am here to introduce you to a wine that will be added to my repeat list: Brancott Estate Flight Song. It comes in two varieties: Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. They are both phenomenal; light, crisp and tangy with hints of fruit and floral aromas.

I started by tasting the Pinot Grigio. It was delectable. And then I tried the Sauvignon Blanc. And I swooned. It was love at first sip. Now don’t get me wrong, I truly enjoyed them both. The Pinot was airy and had promises of pool parties and flip flops in the summer sun. But oh, the Sauvignon Blanc was ripe with flavor, bursting to tell its story. The first thing I tasted was the pink grapefruit and after that, I was sold. It was a cannonball; full-flavored, but still light and crisp. It had me dreaming of backyard barbecues and campfires lasting well after the kids are tucked in bed.

So now that you have read all of the reasons why you will love this wine, I will let you in on a little secret. Both of these wines are 20% lighter in calories than others of their kind. OK, OK, I know what you are thinking: “I knew there was a catch.” But there isn’t. These wines are absolutely amazing, with or without the added calories of their traditional counterparts. This is because they are not put through any artificial processes to remove the calories. Here’s how they do it (it’s not a trick, I promise!):

“Our winemakers select and harvest grapes earlier in the summer when their sugar levels are naturally lower, to craft a full-flavored wine that is 20% lighter in calories, Brancott Estate Flight Song. ”  -Brancott Estates

lighter

See?? No trickery, no filtering, no reverse osmosis. Just “naturally lighter.” And natural is always better. And in this case, yummier too!

Their site says they’ll be rolling these out across the country pretty soon.
They weren’t in the store when I went this weekend.

It’s interesting to read how they make the wine from young grapes before they get too much sugar in them. I’ll be on the lookout for these wines.
