fun and laughs with body doodles :: review

Haywire Group logoDuring the summer we seem to have more and more family gatherings. This is purely logistical, seeing as I come from a very large family. With these gatherings we sometimes have rain days, and sometimes just need ways to entertain the kids (both big and little). One of our newest ways to entertain that is guaranteed to lead to giggles is a fun game from Haywire Group called Body Doodles.

BodydoodlesThe game consists of a set of washable markers, Body Cards (that name various parts of your body – which are all G rated, by the way), Doodle Cards, and a set of instructions. The premise of the game being that you get one of both types of cards and then try to draw that picture on the specified body party so people can guess what you are drawing. For example, you may need to draw a Bald Eagle on the Top of Right Foot, or a “Windy” on a Neck. You’re starting to see why there tends to be giggling.

At first I was a bit leery of playing this game around or with kids, but with a target age of 8+ it really isn’t a worry that your kids will learn to draw on themselves whenever the fancy strikes.  If you don’t play while 3-year-old who colored on their baby sibling with a permanent marker last week is around to watch there’s a good chance you’ll be fine. 😉

Another fun thing about this game I have to mention is that you need at least 3 players, but can play with as many players as you’d like. Summer camp groups, family reunions, getting together with friends… the possibilities are endless!

Lastly, I just have to share my favorite part of the instructions sheet. After reading the instructions and rules the first suggestion in the “More fun things to keep in mind:” section is “Don’t like any of the rules we listed here? Change them! We want you to have fun!” So get imaginative and have fun!

Just how ‘washable’ are the markers? Easy off on the skin? Easy clean on clothes?
Better game in the summer when we have on less clothes.

Sarah – it should be easy to wash off skin with soap and water, BUT the box has some great disclaimers that also suggest testing the marker on yourself if you are unsure and does say to avoid your clothes. Some fine tip washable markers that you trust could make a great fill in to go with all the cards they provide.
