5 In in the kitchen

fixing it right with build.com

I’ve been wanting to update our kitchen ever since we got new appliances, but haven’t had a reason to begin until I tried to replace my kitchen faucet. We were aware that we had some water issues around our kitchen sink, but had no idea how bad they were until I got under the sink area to disconnect our existing faucet. Once I was under the sink I realized the entire countertop was rotted along the faucet area. I then had my husband inspect the damage to confirm my diagnosis which was to replace the existing sink and countertop.

Since we have established that it is mandatory to replace the existing sink and countertop I began searching for the right products to help our current situation. I have an old countertop in our garage that I plan on replacing our current countertop with that doesn’t have any water damage. As for the sink it is not the problem, but I can see how a different design would work better for our small space. Our kitchen is only 9′ x 10′ which is extremely small, and our current sink is 33″ X 22″.

With much research I came across Build.com they have the best selection of home improvement products including tending and traditional styles, unique finishes, and new technologies at competitive prices all in on place.  Customers can find what they need to create their own personal style.  At Build.com I found the perfect sink Miseno Farmhouse 30″ Single Basin Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink with Apron Front.  It’s only  three inches shorter in length, but I believe it will work a lot better for our tight space.  By bringing the sink forward 2.5″ to 3″ it should help with our water issues behind the faucet.  The previous owner used silicone to fix the water issues.  As you can tell it did nothing but cause mold and this is after I have bleached the area.  The sprayer has been fixed by pinching off the water (this was my husband’s quick fix).   As you can tell I am in desperate need of fixing the issue.

If you thought the last picture was bad take a look at this one.  It’s hard to tell by looking, but if you look closely in the top left corner you can see where the original wooden brace is coming off where the countertop rests.  I had originally thought about just replacing the brace with a new one then I decided it would be better to fix everything instead of just temporarily fixing the problem.  Build.com has knowledgeable Project Experts to help you find exactly what you need to make every home improvement project a success.  They are available by phone, email, or chat 7 days a week — and, the advice is always FREE!MisenoMy plan is to replace my existing countertop and sink.  Hopefully by installing the Miseno Farmhouse 30″ Single Basin Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink with Apron Front I will be able to create enough extra room to keep from having water damage in the future.

Do you think this will solve my water issues?
