fighting the itch of summer insect bites with tricalm :: review, giveaway, and coupon

disclaimer giveaway

TriCalm logoThere are a lot of great things about summer. Cookouts, swimming, ice cream cones, catching fireflies, boat rides, gardens, oh the list goes on and I could never pick just one thing to love about summer. I can however, pick the thing I hate the most about summer : biting insects.

Mosquitoes, spiders, biting flies and gnats. I hate them all. Mostly because after they decide to stop for a snack someone in my house is screaming at me to “Fix the itch!”

TriCalm box and tubeFor about the past week or so we’ve been using a new fix for the itch, TriCalm. I was super excited to give TriCalm a chance for a few reasons but my biggest draw was that TriCalm is a steroid-free, over-the-counter gel.

Many years ago I had a slight allergic reaction to hydrocortisone cream and have tried to avoid using it whenever possible for myself and my kids. Finding a steroid-free alternative that actually works and is safe for children over age two was a big score in my book!

TriCalm uses aluminum acetate (a water-soluable salt compound often used in medicine as an astringent or antiseptic) and Cosmederm-7 (which is a patented compound of strontium – a naturally occurring element found in leafy green vegetables) to quickly deliver relief from itching, burning and stinging.

I was excited to see some of the many uses for TriCalm include not only for relief of bug bites or stings, but also for poison ivy, poison oak, winter skin, eczema, shingles, athletes foot (and other fungal infections), and even for allergic reactions on the skin (i.e. to soaps, jewelry, clothing, cosmetics, etc.).

So far I have personally used the TriCalm to alleviate a most irritating itch for myself as well as my very vocal 3-year-old.  Within seconds of using the TriCalm gel on a itchy patch of skin and an insect bite I was finding myself itch-free (and it was glorious!).

If you’re looking for steroid-free anti-itch solution for your family’s skin I suggest checking out TriCalm.  It will be a new staple in our medicine cabinet!

This summer, while trying to rid my trees of poison ivy, I managed to knock a vine on top of me. Unfortunately, I was wearing a tank top, so my arms got the brunt of it, but it also landed on my face. I was in agony for weeks as I tried just about every cream on the market. Plus, I had just started a new job and had an interview scheduled for another one. Aye, I could have used TriCalm.

Just a heads-up….I entered this giveaway two days ago, but when I returned to the page today none of my entries were showing. My comment is still here, but the Rafflecopter widget had no entries for me. Something weird is going on there. 🙂

I really have a bad case of contact dermatitis. When I touch something dusty or when I get chills or whenever my skin touches a fabric that is itchy like laces, my skin gets these small red egg-like bumps that are very very itchy and warm. It last about 15 to 20 minutes and I get them several times a day. I always put hydrocortisone cream on them. I wold love to try tricalm if it would help my allergies subside faster and not itch that much.

I have had an allergic reaction to the formulation of a medicine. I’ve had it for a few years and it caused incredibly intense itching, but we could not identify the cause. Last month my doctor slightly changed my script, and I am itch-free!

This would have been helpful back when my son got a horrible rash on his back and it kept itching him so much, but he couldn’t even reach the spot to itch and wanted me to do it, but scratching it would make it bleed 🙁 This would have been perfect!

My daughter and I are the first ones that the mosquitoes find. Our family even jokes that they don’t need repellent because the bugs will find us first. We could have used Tricalm just last weekend.

In just one evening at an outdoor restaurant, I ended up with over 20 mosquito bites while everyone else had none. I don’t know why I always get bit! This Tricalm would work wonders for me.
