fall flavored cheerios snack mix

The cooler temps of Fall have FINALLY arrived where we live and I cannot contain my excitement! Fall means apple harvest (we are surrounded by apple farms), pumpkin patches, rain boots, sweaters, dreamy sunsets, changing trees, hot apple cider, football, and all things good. Remember, daylight savings is coming! WOO HOO! An extra hour of slee… Oh wait, that’s right, I have kids. Never mind.

Anyway, while I don’t feel the need to have pumpkin spice flavored toothpaste I do enjoy the occasional snack full of those Fall-inspired flavors and the Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and other ingredients really help balance out the more intense flavors in the Pumpkin Spice Cheerios. If you’re in need a a small snack or a fairly healthy stand in meal (just leave out or reduce the M&M’s) here is a tasty Fall Flavored Cheerios Snack Mix for you to enjoy!

Ingredients ::

2/3 c Pumpkin Spice Cheerios
2/3 cup Apple Cinnamon Cheerios
1/2 cup dried apple slices
1/3 cup dried cherries
1/4 cup salted pistachios
2 heaping Tbsp Caramel M&M’s
1 Tbsp pumpkin seeds

Mix all the ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Enjoy!
Serves 1-2

This is a great recipe to triple or quadruple to bring along for a Halloween party or Fall bonfire. Save any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, beyond that the dried cherries will start to compromise the freshness of the Cheerios.

Also, can we just discuss Caramel M&M’s for a second? If you haven’t yet tried these little colored drops of deliciousness I have to tell you that they are a CHEWY caramel center and not a gooey, make a mess all over your face, caramel center. Basically, the perfect way to include caramel flavor with the Apple Cinnamon Cheerios in this snack mix.
