a simple diy :: medal hanger

Is your child a sports fanatic like mine? My daughter has been playing soccer since she was six years old. Once she began to show interest we signed her up for fall and spring soccer. She has play travel soccer and now is playing for middle school.  My daughter has been after me for some time to find a way to display all her medals, trophies and awards for soccer.  In her second year of playing soccer she was awarded the Robert Stanford Award for being the best in her league.

Step 1 ::  Once you have a floating shelf you can begin to drill your holes for the eye hooks.  Size depends on how you would like your shelf to look.  I prefer not to notice the hooks.  Also when placing the holes make sure to use a ruler of sorts to space them out evenly.  I wanted to see all the medals so I placed my holes in a zig zag pattern so that there were two rows of holes.

Step 2 ::  This is a great way to display all the medals my daughter has been awarded over the past seven years.   Once all your eye hooks are in place use needle nose pliers to open the hooks.  How much you open your eye hooks depends on how big the item is you are trying to hang.  I was only hanging medals so the opening didn’t need to be too wide.

Step 3 ::  Now you need to hang your floating shelf and add your medals.  Naturally we placed all the large medals on the first row then the smaller ones on the second row.
