a simple recipe :: 60 minute rolls from scratch

I love to bake bread, but I often forget to get started in time for it to be done for dinner. I don’t have a bread maker, but I do have a Kitchen Aid mixer to help me with my bread baking endeavors. I’m basically in love with my dough hook. This is the perfect recipe for homemade, fluffy, white rolls and they are done in just one hour (includes rising and baking). Feel free to cut the recipe in half as well. It makes 16 rolls with the quantities listed below.

60 minute rolls
INGREDIENTS:

1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter
4-5 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 packages dry yeast

1. Combine milk, water, and butter in a sauce pan. Heat on medium until warm. Butter doesn’t need to melt. 120 degrees (or until it’s hot, but not so hot you can’t put your finger in it)

2. Place 3 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a bowl. Turn your Kitchen Aid to speed 2 for 15 seconds to combine dry ingredients.

3. Gradually add warm liquids to mixture (about 30 seconds). Mix 1 minute longer.

4. Continue at speed 2, add remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time. About 2 minutes longer. Then knead (speed 1) for 2 minutes. (the dough is the right consistency if it has grabbed all the flour from the bowl’s edges, but is no longer sticky)

5. Place in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise for 15 minutes.

6. Divide dough into 16 pieces and roll into balls. Place in (2) greased 9 in. cake pans.

7. Cover again and let rise for 15 minutes.

8. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 minutes.

9. Serve those yummy rolls to your loved ones. We enjoy ours with butter and jam or butter and honey. You’ll want more than one!
