How is that for a click bait title for this post? I do have a humorous story to tell about a recent bike ride and no pants. However, we need to talk about our new Allen Sports 4 bike hitch rack. It was a Valentine’s Day gift to my husband, but really a family gift. I know many of you aren’t quite into bike riding season, but in California we can bike nearly year round. There are many wonderful trails that we are now able to drive to with our bikes.
We picked this rack because it had very good Amazon reviews, the price was affordable, it holds 4 bikes, and it’s only 22 lbs. We are a family of 5, but we can throw the smallest bike in the back of the car. I don’t have personal experience with getting it on our hitch, but it went well for my husband. There is a key and locking system to hopefully avoid theft too. It comes in a few models depending on your vehicle.
Here are a few more features:
- Folding carry arms
- Quick install locking hitch insert
- Rack is secured into hitch with wobble free installation
- Individual tie-downs to secure and protect bicycles
- Tilt-away mast
- Minor assembly required
- 140 LB weight capacity
- Never use on trailers
Thankfully he only banged up his knee and we have a story we will giggle about for many years to come.
If you are looking for an affordable bike carrier, I hope this post help you find the model that will work for your vehicle. We are looking forward to our next adventure thanks to Allen Sports.
