In the spirit of household goals, reducing clutter, and being more efficient in our homes, this post has a Marie Kondo vibe. I enjoy household tools that make my job easier and bring me joy. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the best at keeping our clothing crisply ironed. My husband is a very meticulous man when it comes to his ironing skills. I am always appreciative when he notices the boy’s Sunday shirts and irons them before I get to it. Girls clothing is a whole other level with ruffles, ribbons, and tiny details. I was very happy to discover a new tool for keeping our clothing looking great.

One of my favorite fashion bloggers is Laura Godfrey. She had a tip in her stories just last week about using a steamer instead of an iron on her baby and little girl clothing items. She is a genius! It works so much better. My fingers are thanking me too. I always get burned by the tip of my iron as I’m trying to get under a ruffle or touch the hot fabric.

The Ovo Two-in-One steam iron works as a steamer when you push the button on the top and then hold it upright. It’s also a handy little iron for the final presses that you might not get with the steamer feature. The storage bag doubles as a heat resistant pad to rest the iron on. This was very helpful because it didn’t stand very well on it’s own due to being so lightweight.
More to know about OVO:
- Weighs only 24 ounces and measures 4” x 7” (about the size of an ostrich egg, hence its name Ovo, Italian for “egg”).
- Features an electronic steam pump, ceramic soleplate, vertical stand, easy-fill water reservoir and comfortable grip.
- This mini-multitasker travels light and comes with a unique 2-in-1 case that works both as a heat-resistant press pad and travel pouch.
- The patent-pending heating system delivers impressive steam volume, with a powerful water tank that can give continuous steam for up to 10 minutes- all in the palm of your hand.
- Ready for use in 60 seconds or less, the product also includes a power indicator light that stops flashing when steam and heat are ready for your clothes.
If you are working on simplifying your life, I would certainly recommend this Two-in-One steam iron. You will save yourself time by being able to switch between steaming and ironing. Your family will look very sharp with all their finely ironed ruffles and perfectly pressed shirts as well. This ironing wonder would be great for travelling too. I’m not ready to ditch my main iron at home, but I’m certainly glad to have this handy ironing tool. It’s for sure going to be a travel must-have.

The Ovo is available for purchase on their website, as well as other retailers such as Amazon (affiliate link), Bed Bath & Beyond, and Wayfair.

Only touch things once. Instead of dumping your coat down in the closet and just hang it up!
This is an excellent tip. I’ve heard this before and it’s so good. Don’t drop the mail on the counter or the table, put it where it goes. Same for shoes, etc.
Your tips are amazing!!! My tip is cleaning as I go.. Like with cooking, While prepping, I clean dishes so I don’t have too much to clean up after dinner.

My cleaning tip is to mix vinegar and water and use it on tough water stains. I get water stains on my keurig water reservoir, so I soak it in vinegar and water and it comes right off.
Do a purge twice a year. Start with cleaning out each room and then do a major clean of the house. It keeps the in betweens much simpler.
My fridge shelves were a mess. Everything gets pushed back and forgotten. I can’t find anything quickly. I’m constantly wasting food. So, I bought plastic shoe boxes with lids to organize my middle shelf (and some of the bottom shelf). I have one just for shredded cheeses (that’s how many I have). One for my deli meats, bacon, pepperoni, and other foods. One for my sweetie’s meats, cheese and snacks (he eats turkey products). Another one for cream cheese, butter, special cheeses, and diet foods. You would not believe how spacious the fridge looks now.
My fridge can be a disaster too! Great tip Yona!
Do little things here and there so it’s not a massive job that you have to do all day
My household tip is to put Pepsi in bad stained toilets.

I make my own baking soda, vinegar and soap paste to clean hard to clean places and it works like magic to clean pots and pans batrom tub etc.
I am not a tip maker I am a tip taker. I just dont have it in me. I am a great cleaner and try my hardest to be a great mom and care giver. I know when I am overwhelmed to take a step back and know when to step in. I think in order to be either of those you have to know your limits. ? I dont know I wish I was insightful and wise like everyone else here. that is what brought me here though looking for tips!
You are wise Samantha! You can grab a whole bunch of good tips from all the comments on this post. I like that…tip taker. I am more of a taker too. 🙂
Make labeled storage bins to organize seasonal items
I wish I had some good tips but am soaking up all of yours instead! I do like to keep cleaning supplies in lots of different rooms so they are always there to clean up a mess when you need them
My tip is to take your clothes out of the dryer as soon as the buzzer goes off and hang or fold immediately to avoid wrinkles as much as possible.
Baking soda is great for cleaning.

Toothbrushes have changed my life when it comes to cleaning tile
Having a set laundry day every week helps me retain my sanity. It’s my least favorite chore, so I like knocking it out all at once.
If I don’t have enough time to iron my clothes in the morning, I hang them in the bathroom to “steam” out the wrinkles when I hop in the shower. It works!
Baking soda & orange oil gets u stuck on grease easy as can be- & no toxics
Pet accidents are no fun! So I keep baking soda on hand to blot up the mess and a mixture of water and vinegar to take care of any smells afterwards. Sorry if a dupe comment but my internet had issues at the same time I posted!
Pet accidents are not fun! I keep baking soda on hand to blot out the mess and then a white vinegar/water mixture to get rid of any remaining smell.
I use my dishwasher to wash more than dishes! You can was sponges, toys, toothbrush holders and removable cup holders.
I like to use a vinegar solution for cleaning certain surfaces where I don’t want to use harsher chemicals.
I put Rain-X on the shower tile — repels the water and keeps it clean for several months.
I use Dawn Diah soap in a lot of my cleaning especially when it comes to my shove & windows!!
I store seasonal wreaths for my front door in clear recycle bags and hang from hooks in the garage. They are up and out of the way and you can easily see which one you want to take down.
My find it tip is to have a certain spot designated for a certain thing and always put it there. Then you can find it.
A mixture of baking soda and vinegar will clean anything!
I keep a couple of tennis balls in the laundry. When I dry sheets or blankets I throw a ball into the dryer also and it helps everything dry evenly.
Vinegar and baking soda can clean anything!!
My cleaning tip would be to tidy up every night before going to bed. It’s nice to wake up to a neat home. It alleviates some stress!
I put a mixture of vinegar and water in a bowl in the microwave and nuke it for about 5 minutes. Then I let it sit for a while and wipe the microwave down. Easy-peesy!
The best tip I have, I got from my aunt many years ago. She said “what makes a mess is when things aren’t in their place.” It’s so true. If everything is where it belongs, it’s tidy. And if you dont have a place for it, maybe you dont need it.
I adore that! Great tip!
This is kind of general as a tip, but I have had to learn to use ALL the space available to me to organize small spaces. For me, one of the best ways to do that is use vertical spaces! I have a couple of those bars that are meant for pots and pans in a kitchen, and I do use them for those things, but I also have used them to hang laundry baskets, recycling bins, tools, other baskets or bins for organizing, etc. My other HUGE sanity saver has been to put a shower curtain rod INSIDE the shower stall, then to use S-hooks to hang baskets that hold shampoos, conditioners, body washes, loofahs, shaving supplies, and other shower products. I appreciate its convenience every single day!
GREAT ideas! Thank you, Heather! My shower does get to be a disaster.
Just a note that “Follow Reliable on Twitter” takes me to Instagram and not Twitter.
Thank you Sarah! All fixed. 🙂
I do the same with with vinegar and dish soap in the shower, except I put it in one of those dish scrubbers that holds the soap and then I can scrub the shower tiles while I’m in there.
My tip is to keep cleaning supplies on every floor. That way, you don’t have to lug everything around.
When you clean try and clean from top to bottom
I clean my shower with toilet bowl cleaner and it works wonders since it will hang on to the corners and cracks.
I try to finish the project I started before I move to another!
Ah yes, great tip to live by.
Not sure if this is a tip, but I listen to audiobooks whenever I do quiet chores. They go by so much faster!
That is certainly a tip! I do the same thing!
i use dawn dish soap mixed with vinegar to clean my bathtub! mix equal parts and spray on and rinse!
I have never heard of this, but I’m going to try it! Thank you for a great tip!
I use mason jars to sort my screws, nuts and bolts in my garage. They are uniform in size and clear, so they look nice and organized, and I can still see what is inside.
purge… clean out closets.
To clean my microwave, I nuke some vinegar for a few minutes & then just wipe it all with a damp cloth. Then if the smell is too potent, I heat some vanilla for a minute.
I use an over-the-door pocket style shoe organizer to hold all my cleaning supplies in the utility room. When it’s easy to grab the furniture polish or window cleaner, I’m more likely to keep things clean!
I like to clean countertops with lemon juice, vinegar and baking soda.
I love the steam refresh setting on our dryer, but this would be very handy for those items that need a little more…tlc!
I try to fold the clothes right out of the dryer so I can fold them flat, less ironing. But doesn’t always happen!
Oh yes, this is a great tip. Mine can sit in baskets waiting to be folded for too long!
I find it easer to clean the house if you take small tasks at a time.
I use cut up lemons to fresh the garbage disposal
Keep clothes hangers in the laundry room to hang your laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer. No wrinkles!!
I guess this could be called an organizing tip. I keep a ball of rubber bands in my kitchen as a staple. They are handy for all kinds of things but especially sealing chip bags, cracker bags, cereal bags and bags of frozen items.
I think it’s a fantastic tip and I need to get myself a ball of rubber bands! Thanks!
I try to fold things flat so it helps to eliminate some wrinkles.
I keep a basket of cleaning supplies in each bathroom and in the kitchen. i can grab them and go to whichever room I want to clean instead of going back and forth all over the house. Really saves me time.
That’s a wonderful idea. I tried keeping them all in a bucket and it really didn’t work out that well.
I add a extra cleaning chore a day to my daily routine so my weekends are basically free!
Very Smart, Dana! I feel like keeping the house clean on the weekends is an impossible task. 🙂
