whistlefritz :: spanish immersion DVD set :: spanish for kids

disclaimer no giveawayI wish I knew a second language. Knowing Spanish would actually be really helpful where I live. My sweet neighbor and I used to talk with hand gestures or google translate. She’s learned English and sadly I have not learned Spanish. I’m glad we can talk now, but I would love to know more Spanish. My co-worker is bi-lingual. If she is out of the office, we struggle. All that to say, I want to teach my kiddos a second language because I know it could be very instrumental in their future.

Whistlefritz has award winning language immersion videos and music for toddlers and preschoolers. It is recommended for ages 1-7 and comes in a set of 5 DVD’s. My youngest has been working his way through the series. His older siblings have been following along too, but the DVD’s are geared for the toddler and pre-school crowd. The music is catchy, the videos are brightly colored, and it includes native-speaking adults and children as well as animated characters.

I would like to note that this is a Spanish Immersion program which means they will learn by hearing only Spanish. There’s no English. Key words, phrases, and basic concepts are learned through repetition, graphics, play, and song. Join Maria and her friends as they open up an exciting new world of learning a new language.

This DVD set could be a wonderful educational tool within your home. If you are a teacher, this would be an amazing supplement to learning Spanish in the classroom as well. My husband is the principal at our school and we’ve already discussed donating this set to our library so our teachers can use it within their classrooms.

I felt like my children picked up on the Spanish much more quickly then I did.Spanish-educators-300x300 While it’s not entirely proven that children have an advantage of learning a new language there is certainly a window of opportunity.Studies show ages 1-7 is a good time to take advantage of their ability to absorb information. My Charlie is practicing the Spanish words out loud in the photo above. He caught on quickly.

Many thanks to Whistlefritz for sharing their Spanish for Kids: La Gran Coleccion with our family. I’m excited to learn with the kids and enjoying the DVD’s. They have a French program to look for as well.
