showing school spirit :: mascot

My daughter decided she wanted to be the school mascot this year.  I have to admit I wasn’t too crazy about the idea, but it ended up being just fine.  She wanted to show school spirit and be as involved in school as she could be since all the craziness since COVID.  Unfortunately, COVID has kept the juniors and seniors from enjoying everything they s should be able to enjoy with all of the restrictions.  This is my daughter’s junior year and she planned to get involved in everything she could.

Due to COVID the football team only had five home games so that was a great way for my daughter to get her feet wet being Buzz.  She even got to throw out footballs to all the kids.  As a child she would get so excited when Buzz would throw the footballs.  I taught at North Augusta when she was younger and we lived within walking distance to the high school.  We would go and support my students at every home football game.  I guess it had more of an impact on her than I had realized.

The kids really enjoyed Buzz being back!  I had to get a picture of my son with the Yellow Jacket!  He was more than excited to know the secret identity of Buzz.  For the longest time no one had a clue who Buzz was, but someone found out and it spread like wildfire through the school.  Thankfully she wasn’t too upset when everyone learned her true identity.  At first when her friends were trying to learn who Buzz was she wasn’t too happy about them guessing it was her.

For the most part Buzz’s season is over with maybe a few more appearances, but she seemed to enjoy being her school mascot.  What a great way to show school spirit!
