quick and simple breakfast and lunch ideas

With three kids at three different schools, our mornings get a bit hectic. Each child eats breakfast at a different time and each child is also responsible for packing their own lunch (though my 6-year-old definitely gets some help from me)! My kids know what types of foods are allowed and expected for breakfasts and lunches and we go from there. Here are a few products that help us get eat healthy on a tight schedule.

Breakfast  My kids know they have to have some protein in their breakfast. Last summer we banned toast and most cereals from our breakfast routine as my kids were basically eating nutritionally empty foods and that does not work when you want to fuel your brain and body for the day.  One cereal we did not ban is Mamma Chia granola clusters.  I hesitate to even call it cereal since it’s not like most cereal you’ll find on the shelves.  Since this granola packs in 10 grams of (soy and dairy-free) protein per serving and also has a full day’s worth of Omega-3, it is one of the simplest starts to the day.  It’s easy to eat plain, add your choice of milk, sprinkle over fruit or mix in with some yogurt for a filling, super nutritious breakfast.

Lunch    Since my kids are responsible for making their own lunches, I like to have easy grab-and-go options for them.  They know they have to include a fruit, a vegetable and a protein.  And Mamma Chia’s Organic Chia Squeeze includes ALL of those things in one little pouch.

Drinks  We drink a lot of water at our house but occasionally we have other things.  One drink my kids look forward to is the organic chia beverages from Mamma Chia.  The consistency is between a liquid and a gel.  My kids love it and even their friends request it when they come over.  Since it’s fruit juice and chia with a touch of organic agave, it’s so much better than sports drinks or soda.  And each bottle has more than a day’s worth of Omega 3.  They also have an energy drink with clean caffeine from green coffee beans and yerba mate.  I also put a tablespoon or two of chia seeds in my daily smoothie to really up the nutrition factor.

Our family has been using Mamma Chia products for a few years and we love how easy it’s been to make our meals healthier!
