homer helps your child read

I’m sure everyone’s children have been impacted by COVID academically. My children have especially my youngest whom is finishing up 3rd grade was impacted the most. When COVID struck he was only in first grade and his school year ended in March of that year.  Leading into first grade he attended pre-k and kindergarten, but missed a lot of school due to illness both years.

This is the first normal year of school since COVID and a lot of children are struggling to catch up. My son has been struggling reading on grade level and that’s one of the reasons we decided to give HOMER a try.  I love how their app has the option for the children to read the story themselves or have it read to them.  While the app reads the story it highlights the word while it is being read.

The Three Little Pigs is a story we have all read, but HOMER’s story is different from the original.  Here is a sample of how their stories are read allowed and I love their illustrations.  Such a fun way to learn to read or just to enhance your child’s vocabulary.

Reading even helps our children learn proper sentence structure.  I don’t know about you, but I plan to immerse my son in reading this summer to catch him up before school begins in August.  Out county has opted for year round schooling to help these students that have been impacted by COVID.  They believe that by going to school year round will stop the students from regressing over summer break.  This way all the children will get back on grade level with their school work.

Will you give HOMER a try this summer so you children do not get behind?
