DIY rose gold minnie ears :: plus 7 random, but useful items to bring to Disney

Have you seen all our Disney inspired posts recently?  I’ll summarize, but you must see the Ridemax post if you will be taking a trip to Disneyland or Disneyworld. They are very kindly giving away 3 one-year subscriptions for their planning software (ends July 24). Carinn also shared a great roundup HERE with Disney inspired boutiques on Instagram.

A few months before our Disneyland vacation I was looking to buy Rose Gold Minnie ears. I was hoping to find a really affordable pair. While they are no longer hard to find, I couldn’t justify spending $25 a pair for myself and my daughter. I found THIS YouTube video and decided to try to make our own. I’m actually quite bad at crafts, but I was able to conquer this DIY project. If I could do it, anyone can! Apologies if I mislead you that I was going to demonstrate the tutorial, I won’t waste your time…watch the tutorial linked above. She does a far better job.

DIY Rose Gold Ears

I had a little trouble finding Rose Gold fabric, but Amazon came to the rescue. HERE is a link if you can’t find it locally. Hobby Lobby had the headbands for $1.99. I also grabbed some art sponges as a short cut to stuffing the ears, but I think you should follow the YouTube tutorial and use stuffing or cotton because our ears were thicker then the ones sold at the park. I was quite pleased to produce two pairs of Rose Gold Minnie Ears for about $6 in materials. I HATE sewing, but I was able to accomplish this project and you can too!

7 random, but useful things to bring to a Disney Park

I was trying to decide if we needed a stroller this trip. Our youngest is 5 and we haven’t used our stroller in forever. However, our 8 year old gets bad migraines and I had a gut feeling we might need it. Sure enough, we used it for her one day and our 10+ miles a day of walking was way too much for our 5 year old. Plus, I really appreciated the storage it offered us. Here are a few items we were so glad we had with us in addition to our stroller:
stroller add on

    1. Universal Stroller/Bike cup holders– there’s 5 of us and not that many cup holders on our stroller. Adding 2 more cup holders was quite helpful.
    2. Stroller Hooks– we hooked our insulated bag with our snacks for the day on the hooks and used our undercarriage for jackets, blankets, etc.
    3. Insulated Bag – hard coolers aren’t allowed, but my soft picnic thermal tote from Thirty-One was perfect. We hung it from the stroller hooks and we had snacks, cold fruit, water, and more for the day. If you don’t have a consultant, let me introduce you to my friend Stacie!
    4. Battery Powered String of Lights – we got tons of compliments on this because it’s fun, but also because it was so useful. It helped us find our stroller when it was parked outside a ride in the dark, plus it was good to guide us through the dark after fireworks and on our walk back to our hotel.
    5. Insulated Cup- my TERVIS stainless steel cups are my favorite because they kept ice cold all day long. Don’t forget to get your free ice water at any food stop and stay hydrated all day.
    6. Blanket – this will come in handy for saving your space at parades, fireworks, Fantasmic, or when you need a break. We’ve been using our Luv Bug waterproof blanket for YEARS!
    7. Arm & Hammer body spray – read THIS post for all the reasons we loved this product at Disneyland. So refreshing in the heat!
