There’s just something about having light in the room at night that makes bedtime for the kids that much easier. You may have remembered seeing BabyZoo featured on SIMPLE a couple weeks back for their Momo Sleeptrainer (review here) with a giveaway for the super adorable Gus Night Light. Well, we were lucky enough to give the Gus Night Light a try at our house and I couldn’t wait to share!
When we first got our BabyZoo Gus Night Light, I barely had it out of the box before 2-year-old staked a claim on this new little buddy. She proceeded to carry it around the rest of the day and even on that first night the Gus Night Light went to bed with her, replacing some other much loved bedtime friends! Since that day Gus has made a daily trek out of bed to migrate around the house wherever the girls are playing which lets me know that this new friend has passed the “kid-approved” test.
While the details about the Gus Night Light are less important to the kids the following factoids are fairly important to me as a mom and must be shared:
- there is a high/low switch that allows you to choose how brightly the light shines
- the light runs on AA batteries with a LED light so it doesn’t get warm (as it would on on 110V with a standard light bulb)
- there is a timer! You can set when the light will automatically shut off depending on how long it takes your kiddo to usually fall asleep (10, 20, or 30 minutes) or use the Standby setting if you want the light to stay on indefinitely
- the whole shell is the light which makes the glow easy for kids to see
- the shell works like a tap-light to turn the light on or off and it is simple enough for even very young kids to figure out and operate
- you can also manually turn the light on/off on the bottom of the light so your kiddos aren’t wasting batteries during the daylight hours when playing with the Gus Night Light (like mine do)
When I first got the opportunity to try the BabyZoo Gus Night Light from Kastel International I was interested to see just how what size this sleep aid would be. Most other products that I’ve ever encountered of this nature are so big they take up half the crib with a younger child, but I wanted to give it a try since the Gus Night Light was so darn cute. Turns out the shell of the Gus Night Light is only slightly bigger than the palm of my hand and is perfectly kid-sized in my opinion. my SIMPLE star rating :: 5 out of 5
