ordinary people change the world :: real life heroes

Print pageEmail page

The world we live in can be really scary and overwhelming. Because of this (and so many other reasons) I love sharing books with my kids that teach them about real life heroes. Books that don’t only teach but also make it interesting to my kids to learn are even better and thankfully I have found a historical figures book series that does all that AND is one that my kids voluntarily read again and again!

I have shared the Ordinary People Change The World series before, but these books from Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos deserve to be shared again with some new titles that have just been released as well as their first sticker activity book!

If you are unfamiliar with the series, each Ordinary People Who Change the World book takes a real life historical icon such as Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Abraham Lincoln, Amelia Earhart, George Washington, or Lucille Ball and tells their story of overcoming adversity or making history. I love how these books are not only historical biographies for young children, but they are completely entertaining and engaging. Full of amazing drawings from Christopher Eliopoulos, kids are able to easily follow along as Brad Meltzer tells these stories in a format that children of all ages can relate to.

My kids have the FULL library of Ordinary People Change The World books and this has grown to include 13 already released titles and one more on preorder for early 2018 (I am Harriet Tubman). The latest two releases in this series are I am Sacagawea and I am Gandhi.

For the past couple years my oldest daughter has LOVED these books and I am guaranteed to see her reading at least one of them on a weekly basis. Because of these books she has developed a love for biographies and I decided that she would love the Ordinary People Change the World Sticker Activity Book that is based on the historical figures series by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos. The Ordinary People Change the World Sticker Activity Book just released and is full of puzzles, mazes, drawing prompts, and stickers to go along with this beloved book series!

Whether you are looking for the perfect book series to stock your little one’s shelves with or you need a holiday gift that a reluctant reader will surely enjoy, I highly recommend the Ordinary People Change the World series.

I personally would have loved this when I was younger. I only can hope that my son would love books like this too.
