The Dime Challenge has STARTED!

We got this FUN idea to do through school this year. One of my son’s teachers shared this little idea with her students and the kids are excited about it.
Each child will decorate a 2 liter bottle for this challenge. So, what you will do as a FAMILY, is collect all the dimes you can until the 2 liter is full?  Every dime we get will go into the 2 liter!

Why dimes you ask? Let me tell you!

It is proven people save more money (and in a shorter amount of time) if they focus on ONE coin.
It is proven people spend more saved money if they choose to focus on quarters. Nickels do not add up fast enough, nor do pennies, so the pros focus on dimes.
If students fill (JAM PACKED) a 2 liter with dimes, it could equate to $400-$500. Pro Tip: shake the bottle to get the dimes to pack in even tighter.
What would you do with the extra money saved from the dimes?60e9e8201301c3caddb9b1429c139081

I REALLY wanted to try this!!! And I did “try”…then things happened, we were homeless and my husband took my dimes! I’m not sure how much I had saved up, but it was a little bit. Really wish he didn’t now, really could have used that for Christmas!
Maybe next year I can try again. 🙂

What a great idea to get the kids to save in a fun way. I’d love to see what the kids would want to do with the total.

Wow, now that’s an idea! And my son can even help! I love the idea of starting on January 1, and then when it’s full, my kids can help decide what to do with it, like give some to a charity that they help select. Now if I only had a 2 liter bottle….

I know we didn’t have any 2 liters either lol. And I love the idea of giving some to charity too. Great learning tool for the kids for sure!!

What a great idea! I can’t believe if packed tight it equals $700! Right now I spend almost all my change, once and a while I throw some in a jar. Would be great to focus on a goal like this though.

I really like this concept and the reasoning behind using only dimes. Think I’ll give it a try and see how much it adds up to.
