My family takes two epic road trips and quite a few “smaller” weekend trips each and every year. But our epic ones? We’ll they’re epic. Once in the fall, and then again in the spring – all six of us pile into our minivan and drive 18 hours (yes, one way) to sunny Florida.
I’ve Oftentimes been asked by friends just how we manage to drive hundreds of consecutive miles with four kids. The answer? It’s pretty simple – I pack all the screens and copious amounts of snacks.
We have tablets, mp3 players, personal gaming systems and smartphones. But as anyone who has multiple mobile devices knows, not all screens created equal. The tablet has the majority of our movie collection. And the mp3 player contains most all of the music. And my phone? Yeah you guessed it, all the photos.
But what if there was a way to stream all the content to all our mobile devices at the same time? It would be purse genius, don’t you think.
Prepare to be blown away.
Are you ready?
Let me introduce you to my new road-tripping bff. It’s the HP Pocket Playlist, and it’s your dream come true when it comes to keeping in the vehicle happy at the same time. Whether you’re on a plane, train, or just waiting for dinner in your new favorite greasy spoon – the pocket playlist will let stream it all simultaneously.
So what does the HP pocket playlist do? Basically, think of it like your home DVR. It can stream all your movies, music, photos, ect to up to 5 different mobile devices at the same time.
A few questions I had right from the get-go:
1. A few of our devices don’t have data plans. Will this still work?
Answer: Yes! The Pocket Playlist is simply a 32 GB storage center for all your movies, tv shows, music, ect. You simply “load up” the device with all the content you want to share, and then take it with you wherever you may roam!
2. How big is 32 GB? I’m not good with numbers.
Answer: Essential 32 GB is roughly 16 full-length movies, 7,600 songs or 10,000 photos. On our device, I basically put our entire collection of Disney movies because that’s what the kids want access to most often. On road-trips, movies (and headphones) rule.
3. Does it travel well?
Answer: Absolutely. Basically, it’s about the same size and weight of my cellphone (although I think it’s technically smaller). When we’re not in the car, I carry it around in my purse. Heck, my husband can even easily fit it in his front pocket.
4. My husband is an android, but I prefer the fruit based devices. Will it work with both of them?
Answer: Yes. The HP pocket playlist is an equal opportunist. It works swimmingly with android, apple, kindle fires, HP devices and on Windows based PC’s.
5. So what is the bottom line? How much do I have to spend to receive this tiny bit of mobile heaven?
Answer: Not as much as one would expect. The hp pocket playlist retails for $129.99 (I know, what!?) but right now it’s on sale for only $99.99
You guys, everyday I’m being consistently amazed by just how far technology has come – and especially impressed with the innovation happening over at Hewlett-Packard. This little gadget? I didn’t even know I wanted it until the moment I realized I now can’t live without it.
And at the end of the day, I know this pocket playlist will actually save me so much time/money/headaches down the road (pun intended). I mean, I would hate to have to leave one of the kids on the side of the road – because I’ve been tempted. Kidding. Not really.
