Confession ::  On a weekly (if not daily) basis I find that long lines at the grocery store, kids falling asleep in the car where a 10 minute catnap will make their bedtime 3 hours late, and even anxious waiting periods at the doctor’s office all run a little smoother with an app and mom’s phone.

02_trip_sc03_wordsEntertainment is always key in a kids app but as a mom I also want educational value along with that. Interactive book apps or flashcards are always a hit and I will admit, the first ones my kids want to play with.

If you too use an “i-Something” to entertain your 3-7 year old I highly recommend checking out the new “The Trip – Little Critter Reading Adventure” app available in iTunes from Silver Dolphin Books.  Based on the Mercer Mayer book “The Trip” this interactive reading adventure has been the go-to app for my girls since I downloaded it!

Little Critter's The Trip_Developer Silver Dolphin books

Some of the things we love the most about “The Trip – Little Critter Reading Adventure” app ::

  1. Mercer Mayer. A great story and wonderful illustrations from this beloved author would be entertaining in itself for my kids.
  2. There are hidden alphabet flashcards to be found on every screen, but you can access the entire collection at any point for a refresher. My 3-year-old seems to be especially fond of this feature
  3. There are many interactive points on each screen and even instances where the kiddos choose which direction their trip will go (i.e. the beach or the city)
  4. NO push notifications, no advertisements, and no data collection or tracking – which, in my opinion is as it should be because this is a KIDS app for goodness sake but so many app creators seem to overlook those important facts

To learn more of the great features in this app please watch the above video (it’s super short but full of good features) or read through the iTunes description for the app found HERE.

We are enjoying our “The Trip – Little Critter Reading Adventure” app so much I actually just purchased their “The Trip – Little Critter GamePak” app for my girls to give them even more educational entertainment!

It’s interactive! These apps keep my kiddos busy for MUCH longer than ones they simply watch or listen to. And, I feel like they’re learning more and improving their fine motor skills!
