thankful heart thursday :: the busy-ness of life #tht {link up}

thankfulheart

Our lives are busy.  It doesn’t matter if we work inside or outside of the home.  It doesn’t matter if we have ten kids or no kids.  Our lives are just plain busy.  I mean, think about it.  Even when we’re on vacation, we still spend a good deal of time planning our activities so as to make the absolute most of our time away from the real world.  I’m not saying that busy=bad, but I do think that a lot of our busy-ness clouds our view and we miss out on what’s truly important in life.

It’s the little things that are so easy to miss when we’re running around taking care of everything and everyone.  Those same little things, though, can make all the difference in the world if we allow them to stay in the forefront of our mind.  We’ve all seen the commercials on TV that show a person on the street doing a small act of kindness, then the recipient of that kind act shows kindness to someone else, and so on.  I think that a thankful heart can spread just as easily as a kind act, and that was the drive behind me writing this post.

Every Thursday, I will share with you something that I am thankful for.  It may be something big, but more often than not, it will probably be a small thing that would otherwise be easy to overlook.  My hope is that I will write my Thankful Heart Thursday posts in a way that will resonate with you in your own lives.  I will ask you at the end of each post to please comment back, sharing with me something that you are thankful for at that moment.

I’m looking forward to connecting with you over the next many weeks and watching as our thankfulness grows!

So, for today, I am thankful for the opportunity to share my thankful heart with you, our readers, and I look forward to you sharing with me as well!  What are you thankful for today?

We are linking up this week.  Please take a moment to link up to your blog.  Here is your chance to be on SIMPLE!  After you link, please visit someone else who has linked up as well.

  1. I started a Thankful Thursday on my blog several weeks ago, it is so rewarding to be thankful! I am so happy to see another blogger counting their thanks as well!

  2. I hear ya, Tracy! :) ~Née

  3. I am thankful for so very many things….but right now, I am thankful for the promise of rain!!! Bring it on!! :)

  4. What a wonderful idea! I am thankful today for my husband. We are in the midst of a lot of change (moving to another country, searching for jobs there, etc.) and it is chaotic and scary. Not much is solid right now, but he is, and we are. And for that I am so very thankful! ♥

    • Thanks so much, Heather! Change is scary for sure, and it sounds like you have a lot of it coming your way! Good luck with the move and hold tight to your rock of a husband! I’m sure he’s pretty thankful for you, too! :)

  5. I’m so excited for this series Renee! I am in a very needy baby season of life and sometimes days will go by without me sitting down and giving a ton of thought to well, anything but surviving! HA!

    Today I am thankful that we got through our first preschool orientation last night with my first born with not as many tears as I thought there would be. She is VERY shy – I know the first few weeks will be tough but will be good for her. I’m so excited to see how she grows this year! She is ridiculously smart, but I’m ready for her to grow in getting over her fear of new situations and other people.

    Thanks again for this fantastic idea :)

    • Thanks for the encouragement, Renee, and also for sharing your thankfulness!! I can still remember Lexi’s preschool orientation and all the emotions that went along with it. I bet you’ll be surprised at how quickly she comes out of her shell. There may even come a day that you wish she were still that shy little girl so that she’d be clinging to your leg a bit more often(not that I feel that way at all ;) ) Good luck to her and to you as she starts this new and exciting journey!!
