jennifer gianni’s fusion pilates :: birth ball for pre & post pregnancy {giveaway}

With my first pregnancy I was loyal to my gym at the beginning of the pregnancy and then devoted to long, fast walks toward the end. I didn’t have any other kids — I could do that. With number two my thoughts of long, leisurely workouts are really just dreams. A two-year-old and the schedule of home life and work don’t always lend to gym visits or focused exercise walks (my walks usually end early with a playground visit). But my desire to stay fit during pregnancy is very real — regardless of my circumstances. Because of this I am happy to introduce you to Jennifer Gianni’s Fusion Pilates, and specifically the Birth Ball for Pre & Post Pregnancy DVD set.

While I love catching a prenatal yoga class on the weekend, having a DVD on-hand, in the comfort of my own home, is pretty great. And this set of DVDs has me covered through all stages of pregnancy and those early months after (pregnancy, post pregnancy and exercising with baby!). When life gets crazy you can still squeeze in some exercise to benefit you and your baby.

I am in my second trimester, so I completed DVD 1, Birth Ball for Pregnancy. This DVD offers pilates based exercises using a balance ball/birth ball to help ease those aches and pains of pregnancy, strengthen key muscle groups and prepare you for delivery. I really appreciated that each exercise was explained and shown in great detail (leaving nothing to be assumed or imagined). Along with clear instruction on movements, each exercise was also marked for which trimesters should complete the exercise and when modifications should be made (third trimester often had variations to assist with positions).

DVD1 is a series of movements and exercises designed to help you enhance your pregnancy while preparing you for labor and delivery. DVD2 is for that journey back to your pre-pregnancy body after delivery. And DVD 3 is designed to get in shape while spending time with your baby (no babysitter needed!). I think most moms-to-be can appreciate exercise that fits the needs of their lives.
